The Role of the Registered Nurse Division 2
Statement pertaining to the role of the Registered Nurse Division 2

"The registered Nurse Division 2 is a second level nurse who provides nursing care within the limits specified by education and registering authority's licence to practice.

The major aims of education are the development of skill in providing care and comfort for the individuals and groups in activities of daily living; in assisting meeting basic human needs, and in observing and reporting changes in individual or group behaviours.

The Registered Nurse Division 2 works under the direction and suprevision of the Registered Nurse Division 1. At all times, the RND2 retains responsibility for his/her own actions and remains accountable to the RDN1 for all delegated functions.

Supervision means the direction and guidance given by a RND1 to an RND2. The supervision may be direct or indirect according to the nature of the work delegated to the enrolled nurse.

Registering authorities expect that on initial Registration the RND2 may, with the supervision of a RND1, provide patient care in all relatively stable nursing situations and assist the RND1 with patient care in less stable nursing situations." (Source:Nursing Board of Victoria) Learning Resources
