Description

Holmesglen Institute in association with Charles Sturt University's Faculty of Commerce offers international students the opportunity to enrol in their Bachelor of Business Studies in Melbourne. The Bachelor of Business Studies is a composite course made up of an 18 month Diploma followed by 12 Charles Sturt University degree units undertaken over a further 18 months. Students complete the degree within three years and receive two qualifications. The Diplomas involved are: Accounting, Advertising, Financial Services (Banking), Hospitality (Management), Hospitality (specialisations)*, Human Resources, International Business, Management, Marketing or Tourism.

Diplomas marked with an asterisk (*), will take 2 years to complete. Students who complete one of these diplomas will take 3.5 years to complete both the diploma and the degree.

Please refer to the individual diploma information for a list of subjects and to determine the location of where the particular diploma will be conducted. At the degree level students will study at the Chadstone campus.

Prerequisites

FOR THE DIPLOMA:

Year 12/Matriculation or good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent PLUS relevant employment experience.

English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 530(Paper based), TOEFL 197 (Computer based) or equivalent.

RECOMMENDED
A good background in Mathematics, Accounting or Economics

FOR THE DEGREE:

Satisfactory completion of one of the specified Diplomas.

Tuition

For 2007: $9,400 per year for the first 1.5 years and $12,480 for the final 1.5 years

Students entering the course from the specialisation streams of the Diploma of Hospitality (Management) should refer to the individual Diploma course for tuition fees at Diploma level.

Assessment Methods

Assessment methods include a combination of written assignments, tests and examinations.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methods comprise lectures; tutorials; individual feedback sessions; language support for mainstream programs and usage of the intranet to provide students with access to course information.

Course Outcomes

On satisfactory completion of the course, students will have a Diploma from Holmesglen and a Bachelor of Business Studies awarded by Charles Sturt University.

All study is undertaken at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE's campuses in Melbourne.
